Born in Hong Kong in 1994, Olivier Cong is a singer-songwriter, composer and director.
He received training in psychology before becoming an artist. He founded Raven & The Sea Music Production in 2017 as an incubator for his cross-disciplinary music performances, hybrids of digital media, experimental theatre, performance art and music installation.
Olivier became the first musician in Hong Kong to obtain Apple Music's New Artist Spotlight in 2018, followed by his first solo concert, "Through the Window I See No Star", at St. Andrews Church. He continued to chart new waters with his second solo concert, "I am afraid of", at West Kowloon Cultural District, fusing art, stage, videography and scents.
Since 2020, Olivier has begun film scoring, most notably for Beijing director Tian Zhuangzhuang and Hong Kong director Ann Hui's "Elegies" (2023).
Devoting himself to his first love, arts, Olivier often draws inspiration from literary works and a myriad of art forms. In May 2023, he collaborated with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to curate "The Wind with a Voice", showcasing his original compositions and works of Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür. Olivier presented "His Temple" in June of the same year, inspired by Guy de Maupassant's "Clair de Lune, "combining dance and music. In July, he co-created and directed "The Dreaming" — an experimental work that transgresses the body, music and videography.
Olivier will publish his second album, "Tropical Church", in early 2024.
